This self-led passion project reimagines a collection of RuPaul’s greatest hits across four decades, through the design of four CDs.
Each CD was inspired by the one of RuPaul’s most iconic looks, matched with the energy of that era. Designed, printed, and assembled by hand; this set blends my love for bold visuals, music, and a bit of old-school charm – because my 2000 Ford Focus only plays CDs!
This four-volume CD set captures the evolution of RuPaul through music and design.
Each CD represents a different chapter of her career: from the glamour of the 90’s supermodel, to high-gloss modern-day drag excellence.
Every element – from typography to colour palette – was carefully chosen to reflect the mood and aesthetic of that decade. Glossy finishes, vivid gradients, and bold type nod to the larger-than-life persona RuPaul embodies on and off the runway.
I handled every step of the process: concept development, design, printing, and packaging. The result is a tangible love letter to RuPaul’s artistry and a playful nod to my own design sensibilities (and my car’s outdated audio system).
