OMO

BRANDING    |    EDITORIAL

THE BRIEF

OMO is a 2-part zine collection heavily inspired visually by popular Y2K design trends.

The first print publication contains a nostalgic deep dive into the complex world of K-Pop, while the second stands as an intricate description of the process of creating a K-Pop group. The two publications are neatly packaged together in a retro, yet futuristic themed package.

Additionally, peripheral items include two “limited edition” CD. The first soundtrack is reminiscent of Gen 1 & 2, featuring artists from the early 00’s. The second features Gen 3 & 4 – the new sounds of modern K-Pop from 2010 to today.

THE INSPO

OMO is heavily reliant on the concept of retro-futurism. Bringing together the aesthetics of the early 90’s and 00’s, and mashing it with the current design trends of today.

A bright, neon, and reflective palette. Colourful gradient maps, and noise textures applied to images. These are just a few of the inspirations of Y2K that still stand the test of time.
